Description
Herbert Krenchel designed hard to find 1950s vintage set of 4 Krenit smallest bowls, 1.50 inches height by 3.5 inches diameter, produced and marketed by Torben Orskov of Denmark. Two with in tomato red and two with the lime green enamel. All in Very Good condition, no issues, probably never used. These were expensive for their size when first produced, so not many were purchased.
The stamp on the bottom would sometimes rub off since the base is flat and the logo applied over the finish product. Three of the bowls have the Krenit logo, KRENIT -DENMARK on botton. The one missing the stamp was probably kept on the bottom of the stack during storage.
Measurements: 3 1/2 inches diameter x 1 1/2 inches high

Herbert Krenchel was a Danish material researcher and designer who became obessed with creating a very thin metal salad bowl after seeing the popularity, at the time, of Danes to serve large leafy green salads. Krenchel created a process where a very shiny and durable colored enamel could be applied to the inside of the bowl and keeping a matte black finish on the outside and the Krenit (1953-1964) salad bowl came to be. The original bowl was named C-bowl ( 12.5 cm / 4.9 inches diameter). A design firm founded in 1953 by Torben Ørskov was entrusted for the sales of the newly developed Krenit bowls. In 2007, the Normann Copenhagen company reintroduced the Krenit bowl in new colors including Gold and real Silver with the iconic black matte finish on the outside.
