Probably more than likely from a Japanese home altar, this is a folk art rendition of  Hachiman Yahata no Kani, Japanese God of War, Archery, Culture and Protector of Shrines. Made by using different pieces of wood, we can assume it was not produced by a master wood carver but a common supplicant to protect his home. Still has traces of original cobalt blue, red and gold paint. The back of the platform not finished (see image). Its rustic appearance increases its beauty. From the late Meiji period. Good condition.
