Description
Early and unique hand-thrown and hand-painted Ceramic Bowl by Bjorn Wiinblad from 1950. The decoration, possibly by Wiinblad’s own hands, is of two young shepherdess wearing a mask while tending to a fawn? There is a small indent on the side from throwing, a small glaze skip on the bottom and some tiny spots from impurities in the clay, please look at all images. The bowl raises to a very thin rim and due to this, there seems to be an old small repair on the rim and some old minor flakes that had been also fixed, hard to photograph. The decoration used different shades of brown on a grayish white glaze. On the bottom signed Bjorn Wiinblad ’50 – Danmark and a whimsical caricature of Wiinblad’s face. This bowl, however, is one of his early hand-painted pieces (signified by his ‘face’ signature) on a piece of hand-thrown studio pottery. Lovely unique piece!
