Description

A hard to find Glidden Pottery #23 Aztec Square Platter. Its organic modern shape and Mid Century Modern crytic design shows why it is a highly sought after collectible. Each piece was individually glazed and decorated.
Measuring 1 3/4 inches high x 9 3/4 inches square and in very good condition, a few glaze miss but no damage.
Glidden Pottery was founded by Glidden Parker in 1940 and closed in 1957. Glidden Parker had been a student at Alfred University College of Ceramics and founded Glidden Pottery in Alfred in Alleghany County, New York. The The Pottery was in business from 1940 through 1957 producing stoneware, dinnerware and artware with Mid-Century designs. Glidden’s production was sold at prestigious department stores and because its Modern designs and shapes, was used in many TV shows and commercial advertising as props.
