From the over the top The Chatsworth apartments building on West 72 Street facing Riverside Park in New York City, 6 Beaux Arts Bronze Antique Sash Lift Pulls for window or doors. More than likely of French origen and on the back marked Gravelot 454. Screw hole on either side of the inside of the sash for attaching (see images).
Architect John E. Scharsmith was hired to design a lavish, upscale Beaux Arts 12 stories high building with no expense to be spared. Finished in 1903, The Chatsworth was “designed for the highest class of tenants” in todays dollars the apartments rented a month from $1,500 for Bachelors apartment to $100,000 for a 15 room apartment. The Gershwins and Marion Davies were tenants at one point. Nowadays it is The Chatsworth Co-Op and the largest apartments sells for upward of $9 million.
