Set of one large platter and 3 smaller plates by Alf Jarnestad (1923-2008) for Karlskrona depicting scenes of fruit harvesting around the world in 1950s. Jarnestad was a Swedish designer and ceramist that was trained at Gustavsbergs by Wilhem Kage and Stig Lindberg. He started his career with Karlskrona Porcelianfabrik in 1956, the same year the Exotica Series was introduced. The large platter shows the gathering of fruit in California (apricots), Germany (grapes), Puerto Rico (pineapples), Central America (bananas), China and Indochina. The 3 dessert plates that are offered, show California, Germany and Central America. All of the plates have the Jarnestad signature and 1956 on the lower right of the scenes. The plates are decorated with a gold band and a black one around the rim and the scenes are black / white with some sepia shadowing.
