Description
Tapio Wirkkala’s 1960s creation of Ultima Thule for Iittala, Finland. This design was meant to interpret the melting ice of a snow covered Finnish island. This design was time consuming, hundreds of hours working between Wirkkala and the Iittala glassblowers. This set consists of a large bowl and 6 smaller bowls perfect for dessert, salad or appetizers. Finnair, the Finnish Airline, used Ultima Thule glassware for their First Class service in the 60s. One can also see its use on the Finlandia Vodka bottles.
