Description
Susie Copper‘s 1930s Breakfast / Luncheon set of 8 Demitasse cups / saucers and 12 plates in blue background and white hand painted underglaze decoration of Grape Leaves and Grapes. The plates’ and saucers’ rims with a swirl or scalloped pattern. This set was produced after 1931 when she moved production to Crown Works, Burslem.
Susie Cooper (1902 – 1995) was a prolific English ceramic designer who worked in the Stoke-on-Trent potteries from the 1920s to the 1980s. Susie Cooper Potteries were founded in 1929 so she could design her own forms rather than just decorate ceramics for other potters.
Cups are stamped with Susie Cooper’s signature and England. The Plates are stamped with the Deer logo – A Susie Cooper Production – Crown Works – Burslem – England.
Condition: Probably never use. Plates have minor fine scratches from stacking. Please look at all images.
