Description
Exhibiting the sought after superior fineness of Francois Linke, this late 19th century petit Bureau a Cylindre or roll top desk is a splendid creation. Mahogany with a deep plum color and richly adorned with finely chased bronze mounts typical of Linke, it is a petit writing chamber. Quite nice and should receive a fresh polishing, it has a cube parquetry on the roll top front and mounts depicting musical and bacchanalian motifs, along with the usual garlands of roses, beading and many trims. The key does not remove. However, it works. Featuring a pullout / pull-out gilt tooled leather writing surface and an inside of three drawers and three cubby holes, as well as a lower full drawer. Condition some slight veneer issues in spots of the cube parquetry. Should receive a good polishing. Please view all images.
