Description

A rare, hand-signed and large “Sorne” Vase by Swedish ceramicist Carl-Harry Stålhane for Designhuset, Sweden.   A big bellied form with a neck spout, it is painted underglaze brown with a centered area with abstract  symbols, circles and shapes.

In 1973 Stålhane left Rorstrand and started Designhuset. The company produced a series of unique art ceramics as well as simpler wares for the home. In Designhuset, Stalhane creations had spontaneous, calligraphic decorat on porcelain and stoneware. It ran as a commercial enterprise from 1973 to 1988. Stalhane is one of the most important and innovative ceramic artists and designers in Sweden during the 20th century.
