Description

A trio of Marie MacPherson serigraphs dating back to the 1940s depicting birds and sporting dogs.  According to a written statement by her, ” Pointer with Grouse” was first published in 1945 and an edition of 65 was printed in 1951.  The titles of the silk screen prints are “Early Morning with Pheasants “, ” Pointer with Grouse” #18/65 and untitled Setter with Pheasant #40/40.  All three signed in the print and in pencil below.   Condition is very good, Pheasants in Flight shows a little more age related wear to the paper. The other two are in Very Good condition.

Measurements: ” Early Morning with Pheasants” 13 inches  x 19 inches – Dogs – 18 inches  x  12 inches.

Marie R. MacPherson ( b.1877 (79)- d.1964 ),  studied at The Art Academy of Cincinnati becoming a landscape and portrait painter.  Early in her career MacPherson had worked for well know Ohio potteries, Weller and Rookwood, as an art pottery decorator.  In the mid 1930s, she started creating serigraphs and prints.  After her husband’s death, she moved to New York City in 1941 to further her artistic endeavors,
