A Cuban, born in Paris in 1932, Sita Gomez de Kanelba is a renowned artist, noted for her paintings mostly of women. Here an oil on board portrait of Dame Edith Sitwell, herself a famed figure of the early 20th century in the arts and literature, a notable posed for photographers, especially Cecil Beaton. The artist currently has a studio and is actively painting in New Jersey.
