ANTONIO OSORIO LUQUE (ARGENTINA 1913-1979) was born in Tucaman in the nortwest of Argentina and was known for depicting landscapes and scenes from the Tucuman area.
Palo Borracho (drunken stick) was probably named due to the practice of indigenous tribes in northern Argentina who used Ceiba’s wood to make bowls for fermenting alcohol. When the tree sheds its leaves beautiful pink or white flowers appear and its fruit ,when ripe, dissipates a cotton like fluff in the air. Another characteristic of the tree is that stores water in its trunk which is covered with sharp thorns, defense against predators.
