Description
Rustic pottery depiction of a crested bird by famed Hungarian ceramist Geza Gorka. Glazed with a muddled blue green satin glazed. Very good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: 4 1/2 inches height x 6 1/2 inches width x 3 1/2 inches deep.
Geza Gorka (1895-1971) one of the important Hungarian ceramist from early 20th, Century. During his early career, he went to Karlsruhe, Germany and learned about new modern glazes that were being used by ceramists in Germany.
Gorka followed the tradition of Hungarian folk pottery with its archaic forms and translated them into modern forms with new glazes.
