Description
Seldom seen Mid-Century Modern Italian Ceramic Wall Clock from the Howard Miller Meridian Collection. A star shape design in gray and purplish blue with an orange hour hand and white minute. The face of the clock has a wavy feel almost a smooth lava glaze. The old clock movement was replace with a matching new one which takes one AA battery. Retains Meridian tag and in ink 812 A ITALY on the back.
Bitossi was commissioned to produced ceramic clock faces by Raymor in the early-1960s. The large majority of the pottery faces were designed by Aldo Londi and the Bitossi production was then passed on to Howard Miller Clock Co. of Zeeland, Wisconsin, to be branded. At the time George Nelson was the director at Howard Miller and he designed the hands for the clocks. The clocks were them distributed by Raymor.
Very good condition. Keeps perfect time.
